About Reflexology

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an Ancient art of healing, where the feet are gently massaged. It is based on the principle that there are energy zones that run throughout the body and reflex areas in the feet and hands correspond to all major organs, glands and body parts. Stimulating these reflex areas has an effect on the corresponding area in the body. This therapy dates back to ancient Egypt, India and China.

Dr William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the west as 'Zone Therapy'. He noted that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs within the same zone.

By massaging relevant points on the feet and hands, the reflexologist is releasing blockages in the flow of energy and helping to assist the body to heal itself.

As well as treating diseases, it can be an effective therapy in cases of stress, tension and fatigue, helping to relieve pain as well as stimulating circulation, lymphatic systems and encouraging t the release of toxins.
