Reflexology is an Ancient art of healing, where the feet are gently massaged. It is based on the principle that there are energy zones that run throughout the body and reflex areas in the feet and hands correspond to all major organs, glands and body parts. Stimulating these reflex areas may have an effect on the corresponding area in the body. This therapy dates back to ancient Egypt, India and China.
Dr William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the west as 'Zone Therapy'. He noted that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs within the same zone.
The theory is that by massaging relevant points on the feet and hands, the reflexologist may be able to release blockages in the flow of energy and help to assist the body to heal itself.
As well as treating clints with diseases, it may be an helpful therapy in cases of stress related conditions, tension and fatigue. It aims and may help with stimulating circulation, lymphatic systems and encouraging t the release of toxins.

People are more susceptible colds and other illnesses when the immune system is low. Reflexology may help in bolstering the body's immunological defences and balance the body's energy in order to help prevent illness developing.
Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice and therapists work with Doctors to the benefit of the patient/client.
